Copy and Paste on iPhone

It’s been 22 days since I stood in line at the Apple store waiting to get my hands on my very own iPhone. This is by far the coolest device I’ve ever double-tapped, dragged and pinched my fingers on. But what happened to “copy-and-paste”? This feature has been missing since the first generation iPhone came out. The new iPhone 3G has some additional bells and whistles but this is not one of them. WTF Steve?

Luckily there’s a developer out in Oklahoma by the name of Zac White who’s taking matters into his own hands. He has launched openClip.org. It’s an open source solution available to all iPhone developers. The first iPhone application to demonstrate the widely desired functionality was MagicPad by Proximi, Inc. Check out the demo.

OpenClip.org deserves your support. If you’re a developer, I ask that you give it a shot. Your application will be that much better for it. To learn more about the guy behind the idea, visit Zac White’s Blog.

Yves Behar Talks. I listen.

Check out this video featuring Yves Behar. For years Yves and his firm fuseproject have been designing products that stimulate our senses. The XO Laptop, the Jawbone headset, the Leaf lamp — all were the results of Yves’ curiosity, creative thinking and love for simple design.

I recently decided to follow through with an idea that came to me while walking my dog Maximus. Product development is completely new to me and I’m excited to take on this challenge. A future post will go into further details followed by complete documentation of my experience. For now, enjoy the video.
